Proper Technique on How to Jump Start Another Car

Follow this guide for jump-starting your vehicle using a different car.

Get the two cars close enough so you won't have to worry about the jumper cables safely reaching. Once they are both in park, turn off the engine and open the hoods.

After you have identified the positive and negative sides of the jumper cables and battery, you can start connecting the cables.

The red cables go to the positive sides of the battery, start with the dead battery than good one.

Start with the black negative on good battery, then simply take the remaining black cable and attach anywhere to metal near bad battery.

Start your vehicle, wait a couple minutes for the dead battery to charge, then try starting that vehicle. Once it starts, reverse the process to remove the cables.
