What Vehicle Safety Ratings Mean for Buying a Used Car in Langhorne

When you buy a new or used car, the vehicle's safety ratings may be one of your top priorities. the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, or IIHS, issues safety ratings. Their safety ratings are based on five different types of test. A vehicle can get ratings of poor, marginal, acceptable or good. The IIHS is a group funded by insurance companies.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also conducts safety rating tests. This is a federal government agency. It does four tests on vehicles, and it rates the car's performance with a star rating of one to five stars, with five being the safest option.
